Metal-free Fillings
A filling is most often the final step to bringing a decayed or fractured tooth back to working order. We offer metal-free fillings at our Castlegar dental clinic, Kootenay Family Dental.
Average procedure time: 0.5–1 hour
After removing a decayed or affected area of a tooth, a filling is required to fill the remaining space. We use a white filling at our Castlegar practice, a composite of resin and porcelain materials, which offers certain benefits over traditional silver amalgam fillings.
Why use composite fillings?
Composite fillings bond to the tooth surface securely, and do not expand and contract with temperature changes as metal fillings do. As a result, a composite filling makes for a strong addition to the structure of a tooth. The best part about composite fillings is that they can be matched to the natural color of your teeth, making them indistinguishable once installed. These fillings are durable and last a long time, but no filling is permanent.
