Periodontal Gum Therapy
At Kootenay Family Dental, we offer the best therapies available to patients experiencing periodontal disease.
Average procedure time: 1 hour per appointment.
While it may seem to be confined to the mouth, periodontal disease has been identified as a contributor to many other conditions in the body. Periodontal disease is caused in part by excess buildup of plaque and tartar, buildup that has progressed so far that it has begun to cause tissue deterioration. At our Castlegar clinic, we take pride in identifying these issues as soon as possible and getting our patients the care they need before the condition can become more complicated.
What therapies do you offer?
The first measure would be a deep cleaning treatment. This is performed in our Castlegar office, and in theory is much like a regular teeth cleaning. Our dental hygienists perform what is called scaling and root planing, procedures that remove the bacteria-laden buildup that directly causes the disease.
Since periodontal disease is directly linked to hygiene, the greatest factor in the success of periodontal therapy is a patient’s willingness to adapt their lifestyle. At Kootenay Family Dental, we stress that daily brushing and flossing are a crucial step to combatting the effects of periodontal disease.
Talk to us today if you think you are experiencing the symptoms of periodontal disease. We will do our best to help you in-office, and our network of specialized periodontists is there in case your condition has progressed to a stage that we can’t treat ourselves.
